“Hallelujah Anyway”

By Rend Collective

I’ll find a way to praise You
from the bottom of my broken heart
’cause I think I’d rather strike a match
than curse the dark
Yeah, I’ll find a way to thank You
though the bitterness is real and hard
’cause I’d rather take a chance on hope
than fall apart
I don’t think I’m ready to surrender to the dark

CHORUS
Even if my daylight never dawns
Even if my breakthrough never comes
Even if I’ll fight to bring You praise
Even if my dreams fall to the ground
Even if I’m lost I know I’m found
Even if my heart will somehow say
   Hallelujah anyway

I hear a hymn of triumph
in the wilderness of my lament
in the lowlands or the mountain tops
   I won’t forget
All that goodness that You
   have shown me
the promises that You have kept
there’s better days on the horizon
   up ahead

CHORUS

Let it rise let it rise
In the dark or the light
Oh my soul stand and fight
If you’ve got a song to sing let it rise

Liturgy for our Justice Commitment

 We ask you, Spirit,
To reveal our privilege and biases that we might confess.

We ask you, Jesus,
To show us the doors on which we should knock.

We ask you, Creator,
To bring new life and new hope out of this tragedy.

Don’t let us miss this opportunity again.

Amen.

“War Song”

by My Anchor Holds

You are the God of the wrong made right
You are the darkness turned to light, light
You are the God of the Kingdom come
But the Kingdom reigns with boundless
   love, love

   When all comes crashing
   down around us
   we know You’ll rebuild
   When all seems lost and
   hope is faded
   make us steadfast still

You are the God of the war turned peace
You take our grief and give us
   dancing, dancing
You are the God of a cold, dark night
Holding us til all is bright, bright

   When all comes crashing
   down around us
   we know You’ll rebuild
   When all seems lost and
   hope is faded
   make us steadfast still

Hope will come again
Enemy turned friend
We’ll bury guns where gardens grow
Rebuilding comes so slow
(repeat)

You are the beginning and the end
You’ll bring healing back
   around again, around again
You are fear turned fortitude
In life and death, we cling to You

“How Can I Keep From Singing?”

Hymn updated by Audrey Assad

My life flows on in endless song
Above Earth’s lamentation
I hear the sweet, though far-off hymn
That hails a new creation
Through all the tumult and the strife,
I hear the music ringing
It finds an echo in my soul
How can I keep from singing?

What though my joys and comforts die?
I know my Savior liveth
What though the darkness
  gather round?
Songs in the night He giveth
No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that refuge clinging
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth
How can I keep from singing?

I lift my eyes, the cloud grows thin
I see the blue above it
And day by day this pathway smooths,
Since first I learned to love it
The peace of Christ makes
   fresh my heart
A fountain ever springing
For all things are mine since I am His
How can I keep from singing?

No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that refuge clinging
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth
How can I keep from singing?
